What:
The R Bar & Restaurant in the West Bottoms Changes Its Tune Beginning November 1st, the restaurant and bar will scale down its operation to three nights a week, and focus on a more simplified small bites menu and bar atmosphere. Kansas City, Missouri, November 1, 2011 -- Nationally recognized and award-winning Kansas City bar and restaurant, R Bar, has decided to trim its hours of operation down to Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The West Bottoms destination will continue to offer live music and an extensive and unique cocktail menu, but will forego the demands of a full dinner menu in favor of a smaller fifteen item seasonal menu, available throughout the restaurant. Located at 1617 Genessee Street, the R Bar has been one of Kansas City's favorite destination spots for eclectic live music, inventive and classic cocktails, and fresh, unique dinner fare. Citing the desire to lessen the demands of a full-scale restaurant, while still maintaining aspects of what has made the R Bar so successful, owner Joy Jacobs recently made the decision to narrow the focus. "We are still passionate about making the R Bar one of Kansas City's most unique and inspiring locations to bring a date, out-of-town guests, or to just get out and away from the usual options our great city has to offer," said Jacobs. "We're excited about making the three nights a week special and interesting, every night, every week." The R Bar's bar menu has recently been updated to include some fall flavors, such as apple, cinnamon, ginger and fig; while adding even more interesting spins to the classics. The food menu has eliminated large entrees and added old small plate favorites, such as a Smoked Hanger Steak, Duck Confit Tacos, and a Moroccan Chicken Potpie.
