home Working Words - KU @ First Fridays

Emerging poets, essayists, and fiction writers from the region will read their work as part of Working Words, a literary event coming to First Friday in the Crossroads for the first time at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 2, at the Beggars Table Gallery, 2010 Baltimore Ave., Kansas City, MO 64108. The evening will feature writers from Lawrence, Kansas, including fiction writer Phillip Garland, whose stories explore the meeting points of public and private histories; poet Justin Zaruba, whose work explores love among the dinosaurs; fiction writer and poet Sara Leavens, who mines the surly side of the Midwest; nonfiction writer Jennifer Pacioianu; and fiction writer Caitlin Thornbrugh, who writes extensively about avocados; as well as other talented creative writers. This inaugural event is a collaboration between graduate students in creative writing programs at the University of Missouri
