- We stand at a unique point in the history of AIDS...This summer we learned from the International AIDS Conference that after thirty years of tenacious community advocacy, action and involvement, the world may witness a prospect unthinkable a few short years ago: the possibility to begin to slow the AIDS epidemic in our lifetimes. Though the losses to date from HIV/AIDS have been incalculable to our families, our city, our world, the gains have been extraordinary. The tide is turning but the need continues. The United Nations has once again proclaimed “Getting to Zero” as the campaign theme of Worlds AIDS Day 2012. The focus of the campaign is on “zero”
