home CODA Jazz Fund 10th Anniversary Jazz Jam Event

What:
To commemorate 10 years of service and recognize our jazz community A CODA JAZZ FUND JAM will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 in the Blue Room at 18th and Vine St. The benefit will feature the Elder Statesmen of KC Jazz and vocalist Patricia “Princess” Cox, saxophonist Horace Washington, pianist Donald Cox, bassist Ricky Anderson and trumpeter Ronny Reed, along with Michael Oshiver on jazz harp and special invited musical guests. In recognition of the 10th anniversary, the advisory board of the fund is also announcing the distribution of the Coda Jazz Fund donation boxes to jazz clubs throughout the KC Metro Area. Each donation box displays a beautiful color graphic of one of the jazz musicians assisted by CODA. Since 2002, the Coda Jazz Fund has paid for more than 25 funerals and burials of jazz musicians across the area including Claude “Fiddler” Williams, Milt Abel, Byron "Pete" Eye and Pearl Thuston Brown. Now when that moment of benevolence overtakes a jazz listener, somewhere to place that donation will be nearby. A donation of any size is always appreciated. Donations also can be sent to CODA JAZZ FUND, P.O. Box 412116, Kansas City, MO 64141.
