"On December 1st, Saturday at 10:00 am, Jackson County Genealogical Society invites you to listen to Cindi Fournier, Research Assistant from the Midwest Genealogy Center (MGC), speak on "How to Use Periodicals in Your Genealogy Research." Ms. Fournier will explain how you can use MGC periodicals and ways to find your ancestors in periodicals. Please join us at 1111 W. Pacific at the historic Truman Depot. Look for the red caboose. If any questions, please call 252-8128 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Much of the information published in genealogical periodicals cannot be found elsewhere. County or state census records, cemetery readings, deeds, probate records, and even birth and marriage records are staple components of periodicals. With over 500 current subscription s and more than 2,500 total titles, the Midwest Genealogy Center (MGC) has an ever-expanding periodical collection. Periodicals can be a valuable resource when searching fro your ancestors."
