16th Annual Metro High School Visual Arts Competition Opening Night Reception

- The Merriam Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the 16th Annual Student High School Visual Arts Competition at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery. Our opening reception is scheduled for Thursday December 13 from 7-8:30pm at the Irene B. French Community Center, located at 5701 Merriam Drive. We are pleased with the tremendous response to our exhibition and the quality of work submitted. 516 very talented artists submitted a total of almost 818 entries. We selected 129 works, from 112 student artists, representing 22 high schools, in the Kansas City metro area (which included Lawrence). Our reception is scheduled on Thursday December 13th from 7:00-8:30pm, with the awarding of prizes at 7:30pm. The art show will include 3D, 2D, computer generated and photography.
