- Join the Independence EDC as we host our 2013 Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on Friday, March 15th at the Hilton Garden Inn from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Keynote AddressMr. Rick Smyre, President of Communities of the Mr. Smyre, a noted futurist, will provide a provacative presentation which will introduce five key ideas for transforming economic development for a future very different from the past. Future Awards ProgramiNpact awards will be presented to new and expanding businesses. We will also present awards for Manufacturer of the Year, Small Businesses of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year. The George Matteson Leadership award will also be presented to an outstanding member of the Board of Directors.
