Celebrate An Ancient Holiday with Ancient Instruments in Candlelight featuring music from the 17th Century to the present. Selections include pieces by Henry Purcell, the Beatles, and XTC incorporating Baroque and Celtic Roots Improvisation. The concert features Gerald Trimble on 17th and 18th Century Violas da Gamba; Bill Banks, 1911 Gibson Mondobass and Hurdy-Gurdy; Rebecca Bell, Harpsichord and organ; Serdar Tuncten, percussion; with David Agee on fiddle and guitar. Candlemas, also know as St. Brigid's Day or Imbolc, is a Traditional British Isles Festival honoring the return of the light after the winter's darkness. From this holiday has evolved the origins and legend of Groundhog's Day and other folk traditions.
