In the Fairfax Plant, we build the award winning Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse and our workforce is represented by UAW Local 31. The General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant has a rich history and has been producing World Class Quality vehicles in the Kansas City area since 1945. Fairfax Plant currently runs on 3 shifts, 24 hours a day and produces one vehicle every 58 seconds.We appreciate your interest in visiting our plant for a tour.In order to visit the plant, you must adhere to the following safety guidelines and instructions. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in the cancellation of your tour.Safety:All attendees must watch a ten minute safety video prior to the tourWalk only in pedestrian pathways and follow instructions from your tour guide at all timesYou must wear flat, closed-toed, closed-heeled shoes (mules, sandals, high heels, and any other open shoes are not permitted)You must wear long pants and short or long sleeved shirts (shorts, dresses, skirts, tank tops and any other clothing that overly exposes the body are not permitted)Please refrain from wearing watches and other jewelry - if you wear these items to the plant, you will be required to cover them with protective equipment.Your tour guide will provide appropriate protective gear including Personal Protective Equipment, safety glasses with side shields, special gloves and Kevlar sleeves. These items must be worn at all times when instructed by the tour guide. Additional Rules:You will not be permitted to use your cell phone, computer, or any other electronic devices inside the plantYou can take photo and video in specified areas only - please ask your tour guide before taking any photo or videoDo not bring knives, sharp objects, guns or other items that could be considered weaponsA metal detector may be used to ensure no harmful items are brought into the facility and all bags are subject to search by plant security.No backpacks or large bags (note: there will not be a place to store purses so they will have to be carried on the tour)Tours can be and will be ended at any time if rules are not followed. This is at the discretion of your tour guide.
