- Cheer on the 80 Kansas City area spellers competing at the Jackson County Championship Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 9 a.m. , at the Kansas City Public Library's Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.The last speller standing will represent Jackson County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. this spring.Three-time winner of the Jackson County Spelling Bee, Jordan Huffman of Lee's Summit, completed her Scripps National Spelling Bee career last year as the 9th top speller in the nation.The Scripps National Spelling Bee is the nation's largest and longest-running educational program.
