The Starlight Theatre Kansas City as we know it today first opened its doors to the public in 1951. The 7,947 seat venue is one of only three self-producing outdoor theatres left in the U.S. Broadway shows are the main attraction on the Starlight Theatre schedule, and over the years, the Kansas City venue has been consistent in playing host to the biggest and the best. Chicago, Mamma Mia!, West Side Story, Grease, Rent, Les Miserables, Cats, Annie and Phantom of the Opera are just a few of those featured on the Starlight Theatre schedule in the past. The venue is also a popular stop-over point for many big name music acts on tour, with Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Train, Kesha, Steely Dan, Arcade Fire and Ray LaMontagne all recently listed on the Starlight Theatre schedule. In keeping with the venue's mission statement, the Starlight Theatre ensures that Education is as much a part of its program as the Performing Arts themselves. From classes in voice, drama and musical theatre for toddler and elementary school students, to community projects and scholarships for third level education, the Starlight Theatre Kansas City works hard to develop a presence of and appreciation for the arts throughout all age-groups, in all areas of the city. Get involved, or simply take in a show! For all the latest news and up-to-date event information from the Starlight Theatre Kansas City, make Eventful your source, and check out the schedule right here!
